Theme of the Month - AI Party Tricks and Holidays
The questions that led me to the posts for Dec 2022 were:
How will AI impact our world and my job?
How would I improve Eleven VR table tennis?
What random inspirational gems did you discover from combing through the Keep Notes from the past year?
How was your 2022?
December is always my favorite working part of the year because I try to wrap up all my loose end projects and set expectations for the new year. The 30 Year End Activities is a tradition that cleans up all those old thoughts and helps me reflect on what to focus on for the next quarter and year. I don’t mind spending hours cleaning up my Google photos to reduce storage or updating our shared Evie album. At the very least, I like to revisit my tools and setup.
The NYC visit was incredibly rewarding (even with the painful commute with Evie). I hope we do become the family that visits NYC once a year for the holidays and Evie gets to spend a few days seeing old friends.
The blogposts I’ve published this month were:
30 ChatGPT Musings and Use Cases - Jumped on the bandwagon and spent some time experimenting with ChatGPT. Super impressive and considering how it could be a complimentary skill to my current responsibilities. It reminds me a little bit of the mobile and streaming revolution. Intuitively, we’ll be able to see a lot more innovation open up, but it’ll take time on the legal and regulatory front to work out intellectual property and passthrough payments.
30 ElevenVR TT Improvements - I love VR table tennis. It’s the thing that keeps me active through the year and has replaced my physical table tennis visits. I don’t mind admitting that sometimes I’ll hop on and play while listening in on townhalls or calls where I’m not really required to present.
30 Random 2022 Insights - Another great tradition is just clearing out my past year of random thoughts. The best note taking tool is the one you consistently use.
Reflecting on 2022 - What an incredible year! I noticed an uptick in physical events (e.g. concerts, weddings, and hackathons) for me this year and I’m hoping to do more of them next year. They were all very rewarding and I love the opportunity to be with more people. I’m at a stage where I don’t want to travel more than once a quarter for work conferences and I’d rather lean into more trips as a whole family.
Some ideas for 2023? I’m still going to wing it.
30 Streams of Income - I started writing this huge spreadsheet last month, so I might as well publish something chunky and substantial to kickoff next year
40 under 40 - I have triumphantly completed my 30 under 30 but I’ve taken a bit of a break the past 6 years due to procrastination. I would like to set new goals and tackle them.
“Our Life in Lists of 30” Book - I really need to publish this second book. I already wrote so much, but I want to complete this stage of my life so I can move forward to “Her Life in Lists of 30”
Thank you for reading and I hope everyone stays safe!
Please suggest a list of 30 and I’ll write it! I’ve written 230+ lists of 30 and only publish ones that I think other people would enjoy. It’s my fun brainstorming routine
