Theme of the Month - Book Launch and New Publishing Schedule
The questions that led me to the posts for Mar 2024 were:
What blue sky web3 ideas do you have for the next 5 years?
What were some organic, non-AI generated thoughts that passed your mind in the past few months?
How will you launch your book with NFTs?
I launched the book! Finally! Relieved and thinking more about what marketing means. For personal upkeep, I’m considering simplifying my web presence and having consistency. I've decided on the following:
Reroute seelemons.com to listsof30.com - My seelemons wordpress site has been up since 2008 and it still costs me around $7/month for my Digital Ocean droplet and $12/year for the domain. The difference in content is minimal. Seelemons has an archive of [Travel Advice] for new yearly adventures, older [30 Day challenges] with lessons learned, [Year End Reviews], and my 40 under 40. I barely use the Plug-ins to my advantage, even though there’s a cool little chatbot there.
Create an easy-to-maintain system - Writing lists of 30 is low stress and enjoyable. I don't really need it as a stream of income. I would like to post consistently and challenge myself to generate new content.
Migrate older lists of 30 - This is an easy filler in case I don't write a list of 30 a particular week.
Migrate [Travel Advice] highlights once month - Since I've traveled to 43 countries, I've got a few years of monthly posts
Migrate [30 Day Challenge] material to a separate page - I'd like to store the content on substack without creating too many topics. There might be room for launching the articles without highlighting them on the main page.
Migrate [40 under 40] goals - This isn't too hard to do as it's static. I'll put it into "About Me"
Migrate [Year End Reviews] material to a separate page - I can't lose this page as it's all of my happy memories. To be honest, most of my historical year end reviews are for me and not for others, so maybe I'll make this into a paid subscriber page. I’m also nostalgic about the gallery of images I have on my wordpress, so I may need to think about this closer.
Eventually decommission the Wordpress and digital ocean site. I think writing lists of 30 is already a life long brand and ambition
So what does this mean for the readers? Here's the schedule I'd like to stick to (6 emails per month):
New List of 30 post - First and third week (Friday) - These are related to my current hobbies and news cycles. Definitely one is a topic on AI since I've done monthly posts.
Rewind List of 30 post - Second and fourth week (Friday) - I'll choose fun ones from the past and come up with a schedule.
Once per month (last day of month) - Month of <MMYYYY> recapping as a newsletter email (like this one!)
Once per month (15th?) - Recap travel advice for a fun place as a part of my migration.
Once per month (if time permits) - Make a video about the recap of the month, travel advice, AI, Web3, or something else. I want to get into this habit.
Will I try to stick to this? Maybe. I still like the idea of randomly posting when I have time, but I think this might be less pressure overall. I also reserve some ability to break free and insert some impromptu writings. I will think deeply about the Gallery/Media solution.
The blogposts I’ve published this month were:
30 Blue Sky Web3 Ideas - Where do you see Web3 in the next 5 years? Our Infura team did a fun exercise during the Offsite at EthDenver.
30 Random H1 2024 Insights - I’m human. I take notes and randomly clear them from my Keep notes. There’s some pretty good Dad jokes in there.
“Our Life in Lists of 30” Book Launch - An official book launch blogpost with the process for claiming an NFT on Phosphor and using Tropee to complete tasks, earn rewards, and claim a signed copy of my book!
Some ideas for Apr 2024?
Bootstrapping Web3 with AI Tools Course - This is pretty much done.
30 AI Buzzwords - I’ve loved writing buzzwords for Blockchain, DeFi, Consensys, NFTs, Token Gating, and DAOs so of course I’m plugged into a new series of flash trends.
30 Tips from Beat Bobby Flay - An output of love and drool from watching Beat Bobby Flay episodes on (HBO) Max.
30 New AI Careers - Rethinking our post-labor economic jobs. Let’s all switch to the gig economy.
Reflecting on 10 years of writing lists of 30 - I still love writing lists of 30! It’ll define my whole life.
30 Future Decade Goals - We split the next 30 years into goals per decade as mapped out by Evie’s age. This was a great activity in long term planning for her ages 6-16, 16-26, and 26-36.
30 Ways to Stretch Time - Wealth doesn’t mean money, but time. It’s our only limited resource.
30 Things I do for Self Care - We all need to figure out what restores our energy and keeps us sane.
Kicking off “Her Life in Lists of 30” - I think I have enough material from my monthly lists of 30s to cover this and launch it in 2024. Maybe I’ll find a publisher for this book? I think I’ll be happy with more substack subscribers than a single book defining a decade. If it’s popular, maybe I’ll do a book tour!
Thank you for reading and I hope everyone stays safe!
Please suggest a list of 30 and I’ll write it! I’ve written 250+ lists of 30 and only publish ones that I think other people would enjoy. It’s my fun brainstorming routine.
