Random Observation/Comment #854: Dad trips are so much fun. More Dad trips, please.
Things About Telluride
Why did it take around 7 hours to get here from Denver? This cute and quaint town is in the middle of nowhere.
Expensive place, but totally worth it. I think there are only mom and pop shops allowed (except Clark's, which is a staple market for all ski towns)
Book your house way ahead of time. This tends to book up quickly. A group of 11 of us stayed here: https://www.vacasa.com/unit/50516
Beware of altitude and altitude sickness. Telluride is around 8k ft
It's very sunny, but shaded areas are 10 degrees lighter, so have a lightweight shell
Explore the mountain village by taking the gondola
Play some disc golf! It’s so much fun!
While we didn’t see any, black bears will go through trash cans at 3AM so definitely make sure your garbage cans have the lock in them
Things About Blues and Brews Festival
Festival is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a super chill vibe
Arrive on Thursday if you can so you can just find a parking spot and leave the car there the whole weekend
Buy your 3-day passes ahead of time and connect your credit card to it - The credit card connection is super helpful
We wound up getting to the festival area early in the morning (doors open at 11AM) to get a good hanging out spot and then packing up our tarp and chairs by 5PM so the concerts from 6PM onward doesn’t lead to random people standing on your stuff.
Security checks are pretty light. You can probably sneak in something in your pocket.
It's no longer an all-you-can-drink and taste beers. The $40 tasting for 2 hours is not a great deal IMHO
Bring a tarp and chairs. Definitely wear hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
You can bring tents as well, but there’s a section for that
If it gets too hot, take a break at the Blues Stage which has indoor air conditioning and seating. The music is more intimate and the filter on the screens is pretty trippy.
Try the tatter tots from Tot Box - They’re made from mashed potatoes and they’re so gosh darn delicious.
Bring a water bottle because they have two water stations. Stay hydrated!
The venue is so beautiful with mountains surrounding the stage and main area.
Find some phish people. Loved hanging out with festival goers.
Don’t forget that this is a concert and you’ll probably want some ear plugs if you’re standing close
This was unique: No professional cameras allowed unless you have a media pass (any camera with an attachable lens is a professional camera).
