Theme of the Month - Summer full swing
The questions/thoughts that led me to the posts for July 2025 were:
How was Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter in Universal Studios Japan?
What social media cues do I get in my algorithm?
How was your trip to Japan with family?
What are the adulting things you do that you didn’t think about in your 20s?
If AGI exists, what would you do with it?
I really enjoy hosting and teaching. I think I need to open up an exclusive friends retreat center where we rotate BBQs, LAN video games, and talks about random subjects. If you’re in the group, the only requirement is to give 1 talk every rotation (depends on number of people in the group) about your passion. It could be about your profession, your hobbies (disc golf), or even just a curated series of videos, but it has to be engaging and you have to include your own personal experience into it.
For the food, we’ll rotate between people cooking appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The facilities could also support hiring special occasion cooks. For those who don’t know how to cook (or want to learn from the best), you can shadow a chef.
There’s probably a conspiracy theory about this already, but I think we’re put into this social norm of living separately and loneliness so we need to spend money to get closer together. Whether it’s the independence of buying your own place instead of living with older generations, or it’s the need to then commute with fuel/travel costs for gathering, I definitely feel like we’re purposefully disconnected to fuel the economy. Why not just have a cool little commune?
In any case, AI is going pretty wild and I’m pretty sure the digital world is cooked. Our only hope to be more humane is to rewire our brains to be appreciate the human in-person premium. If I’m here, then I can’t be there (sucked into the online world). It’s silly how my “here” is actually just sitting in front of my computer typing out random thoughts.
Look at this veo3 craziness:
The blogposts I’ve published this month were:
It’s so cool seeing these immersive worlds come to life. I think physical theme parks are going to be a huge part of our dystopian AI future.
Social media is has given me some new ad calls to action, which drives my consumerism or reactions. Hopefully it’s all gloom-scrolling or looking at really delicious food.
Japan with Family is different than Japan as a Foodie, but I was still able to sneak away every night around 8PM to try different restaurants and explore the old fashion way.
Why did I want to become an adult so early? Why do we want to retire so early? It’s just life. The little things of maintaining a house, home, social life, mind, and body temple.
I don’t need to wait until AGI to do all of the things I want to do. It’s clear to me that I just need to make fewer decisions on choosing to do hard things.
Some ideas for Aug 2025?
30 Decisions to Outsource to AI - If I am a cat, what would my AI tell me to do?
30 Careers Born from AI - What new careers will there be if AI tooling and AI Agents are ubiquitous?
30 More AI Buzzwords - Latest buzzwords from reading some different research papers and looking at headlines.
30 New AI Careers - Rethinking our post-labor economic jobs. Let’s all switch to the gig economy.
30 Future Decade Goals - We split the next 30 years into goals per decade as mapped out by Evie’s age. This was a great activity in long term planning for her ages 6-16, 16-26, and 26-36.
Kicking off “Her Life in Lists of 30” - I think I have enough material from my monthly lists of 30s to cover this and launch it in 2024. Maybe I’ll find a publisher for this book? I think I’ll be happy with more substack subscribers than a single book defining a decade. If it’s popular, maybe I’ll do a book tour!
Thank you for reading and I hope everyone stays safe! See y’all in the new year!
Please suggest a list of 30 and I’ll write it! I’ve written 300+ lists of 30 and only publish ones that I think other people would enjoy. It’s my fun brainstorming routine.
