Theme of the Month - Europe Trip & Summer
The questions/thoughts that led me to the posts for June 2024 were:
What did you think about the Origami challenge in the early days of COVID?
How did the Clembot Interviews go?
How do you read into news to prevent being in an echo chamber? (old post)
How was the family trip to Portugal? Any advice?
How can I make my work calls more fun with Clembot?
How was the family trip to London? Any advice?
21 days traveling is just too many days away from home. I have the pounds to prove the indulgence. When I do retire, remind me to only travel 10 days at a time with at least 30 days off. If you do a bit of math and I visit 1 place for those 10 days, then in a year, I’d be able to go to around 9 place. 5 years around 45 places. 10 years around 91 places. If you subtract holidays (including Phish-mas), let’s just say 6 new places a year? I already have a list of 30.
The Zurich-Lagos-Lisbon-London tour was fantastic. I wrote a short summary of reviews this month to capture some memories. Lots of happiness jar moments.
Summer activities are in full swing and I’m really enjoying this parenting time. This is absolutely the time to lean in and do some hanging out at the pool. Get off the phone and connect because next summer she’ll be on the iPad and reading by herself before you know it.
I keep thinking about this post:
There were some of these that I don’t even do anymore and forgot what the “last” time was - just some uneventful routine. I’m not crying - you are. I’m pausing my career ambitions for moments of true connection.
The blogposts I’ve published this month were:
30 Day Origami Challenge Reflections - Folded origami throughout the pandemic and now it’s used for our Christmas tree decorations.
30 Clembot Interview Reflections - I don’t mind sharing my secrets on how this is done. Looks like GPT-4o is going to make this much more believable. There’s only minor editing magic.
30 Ways to Evaluate News - The questions I ask when reading an article online to discover the biases and manipulations.
[Travel Advice] Portugal - Awesome summer Euro-trip filled with some fresh advice to some new visits.
30 Clembot Zoom Backgrounds - Clembot joins my work zoom calls for fun.
[Travel Advice] London Family Trip - Summary of some of the top playgrounds and kids activities in London.
Some ideas for July 2024?
30 Random Q3 2024 Insights - More organic random observations that hopefully AI can’t replicate reliably.
30 Retirement Thoughts - What do I think about retirement?
Bootstrapping Web3 with AI Tools Course - I’m considering launching this in a slightly different way with my Clembot AI answering some FAQs.
30 Tips from Beat Bobby Flay - An output of love and drool from watching Beat Bobby Flay episodes on (HBO) Max.
30 New AI Careers - Rethinking our post-labor economic jobs. Let’s all switch to the gig economy.
Reflecting on 10 years of writing lists of 30 - I still love writing lists of 30! It’ll define my whole life.
30 Future Decade Goals - We split the next 30 years into goals per decade as mapped out by Evie’s age. This was a great activity in long term planning for her ages 6-16, 16-26, and 26-36.
30 Ways to Stretch Time - Wealth doesn’t mean money, but time. It’s our only limited resource.
30 Things I do for Self Care - We all need to figure out what restores our energy and keeps us sane.
Kicking off “Her Life in Lists of 30” - I think I have enough material from my monthly lists of 30s to cover this and launch it in 2024. Maybe I’ll find a publisher for this book? I think I’ll be happy with more substack subscribers than a single book defining a decade. If it’s popular, maybe I’ll do a book tour!
Thank you for reading and I hope everyone stays safe!
Please suggest a list of 30 and I’ll write it! I’ve written 260+ lists of 30 and only publish ones that I think other people would enjoy. It’s my fun brainstorming routine.
