Theme of the Month - Telluride Blues and Brews
The questions/thoughts that led me to the posts for Sept 2024 were:
How do you prepare for the future of AI agents?
What data do you create and how can you use it for training AI?
What’s at Phish shakedown street?
What communities are you a part of and how do you contribute to them?
How was Telluride Blues and Brews festival?
What if AI becomes dystopian?
Yearly Dad trips are great, but what about yearly Mom trips? It’s not lost on me that the patriarchy runs deep into family dynamics.
Mom tends to be the default caretaker and organizer of school, summer, family vacation, and date night activities.
Dad perhaps makes the larger salary, labeled as the “fun parent”, buys gadgets, and cooks. A Dad in the neighborhood looking after their child for a Saturday is usually a group chat saying “Free Saturday. Got the kiddo. BBQ? Pool?”
Is the Dad group just stronger? More resourceful? Less judgmental? Lazy? Follows the path of least resistance? Selfish?
I’ve wondered for our family if we’ve ever sat down to agree on such responsibilities. Admittedly, I’ve chosen the more extroverted and “fun stuff” activities while leaving the rest to the Mom. It doesn’t seem fair. Maybe we create a rotational schedule? In either case, communication and agreement is one of those things that needed to be a meeting.
Disc golf has become a bit of a mini obsession. I just want to throw an accurate and straight line 200ft. Is that too much to ask? This would give me room for some putter practice and easy pars.
Autumn is in full swing. Let’s enjoy the change of colors and learning opportunities out there. We can do more with less. We can keep simplifying and optimizing.
The blogposts I’ve published this month were:
Prepping my data for multiple AI agents and how they’ll interact learning my data sources.
Creating my dynamic data store.
Pregaming at Shakedown with some Orange Julius.
This is how I contribute to my communities of interest. Maybe my future schedule is just attending in-person events across these communities for free.
Telluride is gorgeous with an awesome yearly blues and brews festival.
AI dystopian ideas that overlap with some of the major risks for a future we’re probably creating. Self fulfilling prophecy.
Some ideas for Oct 2024?

Reflecting on 10 years of writing lists of 30 - I still love writing lists of 30! It’ll define my whole life.
30 Future Decade Goals - We split the next 30 years into goals per decade as mapped out by Evie’s age. This was a great activity in long term planning for her ages 6-16, 16-26, and 26-36.

30 Things I do for Self Care - We all need to figure out what restores our energy and keeps us sane.
Kicking off “Her Life in Lists of 30” - I think I have enough material from my monthly lists of 30s to cover this and launch it in 2024. Maybe I’ll find a publisher for this book? I think I’ll be happy with more substack subscribers than a single book defining a decade. If it’s popular, maybe I’ll do a book tour!
Thank you for reading and I hope everyone stays safe!
Please suggest a list of 30 and I’ll write it! I’ve written 280+ lists of 30 and only publish ones that I think other people would enjoy. It’s my fun brainstorming routine.
